Running FireStorm/DAO™
After you have installed FireStorm/DAO™, you can run the application by running the firestorm.bat or firestorm.sh script (depending on your operating system). Please follow the instructions for your operating system below.
Linux/Unix
If you have not already done so, ensure that you have granted execute permissions to the firestorm.sh script by navigating to the product installation directory and executing the following command:
cd /opt/firestorm-2.3/bin
chmod +x firestorm.sh
It is now possible to run FireStorm/DAO™ by running the following command:
./firestorm.sh
Windows
You can run FireStorm/DAO™ by double-clicking on the firestorm.bat file using Windows Explorer. Alternatively you can use a command-prompt to run FireStorm/DAO™ by changing directory to the installation directory and running the batch file as follows:
cd \firestorm-2.3\bin
firestorm
Hint: you may wish to create a shortcut on your desktop to run FireStorm/DAO™. You can do this by holding down the right mouse button and dragging the firestorm.bat file to the desktop.
Installing the License Key
You should now see the FireStorm/DAO™ user interface as shown below.
When you click on either New or Open, you are prompted for the location of a valid license key. When you requested a product evaluation on the FireStorm/DAO™ download page, you should have received an email containing the license key as an attachment. Save the license key to a convenient directory and then navigate to that directory using the FireStorm/DAO™ dialog.
Alternatively, you can save the license file directly to the license directory/folder within your FireStorm/DAO™ installation. FireStorm/DAO™ automatically finds any license key that is stored in the correct license directory/folder. If you installed FireStorm/DAO™ on the root directory of a Windows, the license folder is located here:
C:\firestorm-2.3\license
