CodeFutures' Partner Rogue Wave Launches SDO Database Product

CodeFutures is pleased to announce that its partner Rogue Wave Software has launched HydraSDO for Databases.

HydraSDO™ for Databases enables relational data to be accessed in both traditional application architectures and SOA by allowing relational data to be accessed and modified using the SDO Application Programming Interface (API). This eliminates the need to write Structured Query Language (SQL) code, a time consuming step in the development process. HydraSDO for Databases provides support for leading databases, including Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, MySQL, and DB2. HydraSDO for Databases also includes tools to reverse engineer existing databases from an SQL script or a live database connection, such as Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), and generate the data access code.

HydraSDO components provide consistent and easy-to-use access to enterprise data sources, making them available through the standardized Service Data Object (SDO) API. After data has been exposed by the simple XML-style SDO interface, it can be used by any application as a real-time data service. HydraSDO data components consist of HydraSDO for Databases, which automate the creation of high performance, service oriented data services in Java and or C++, each optimized for the data source it supports.

Rogue Wave® HydraSDO is an implementation of the SDO specification, created by the Open SOA collaboration, of which Rogue Wave Software is a member. HydraSDO components can work either independently or as an integrated component of the Rogue Wave® HydraAgent Runtime, which empowers IT architects and professional developers to achieve order-of-magnitude performance and throughput improvements through concurrent processing. In combination, Rogue Wave HydraAgent Runtime and HydraSDO components allow for increased flexibility and productivity for developers. They are part of Rogue Wave® Hydra Suite, the first generally available high-performance SOA development environment that supports and complements key concepts of the Service Component Architecture or SCA specification, which incorporates service data objects as a key foundational technology.

CodeFutures Joins OSOA

CodeFutures is pleased to announced that it has joined the Open Service Oriented Architecture Consortium.

The Open SOA Collaboration represents an informal group of industry leaders that share a common interest: defining a language-neutral programming model that meets the needs of enterprise developers who are developing software that exploits Service Oriented Architecture characteristics and benefits.

CodeFutures Launches Early Access Program for FireStorm/SDO

CodeFutures is launching a new product called FireStorm/SDO based on the Service Data Object Application Programming Interface (SD0 API).

"CodeFutures has actually been looking at the SDO API since it was first published in late 2003" says Andy Grove, CodeFutures' Chief Architect .

" CodeFutures only decided to launch a product based on the SDO API after it emerged late last year that SDO would be a major part of the new Service Component Architecture specification that has backing from several industry leaders." says PJ Murray, CodeFutures VP Marketing.

CodeFutures is starting out by providing database access through the SDO API. FireStorm/SDO will have the key advantage of providing very good code generation tools. That means developers can get started with SDO without using the SDO API directly and can use the generated code as an ideal tutorial for learning how to use the SDO API.

CodeFutures is shipping the first Early Access version of FireStorm/SDO this week to a customer that will use it to gain a significant performance boost.

At that point, CodeFutures will work with its partner Rogue Wave Software to roll out the EA during February on a phased basis (so we can handle the support load while continuing to develop).

CodeFutures plans to provide everyone that applies for the EA program will be provided access in February, prior to any pubic BETA program in March.

About FireStorm/DAO

FireStorm/DAO is a database access tool that adopts a pragmatic approach of generating Java source code for data persistence that is a direct mapping of a particular relational database schema. It is also possible to define complex multi-table queries and to leverage existing database logic contained within stored procedures.

FireStorm/DAO is based on the Data Access Object design pattern and is available in Enterprise, Architect, and OEM editions. FireStorm/DAO Architect Edition allows new custom code generation templates to be developed and integrated with the FireStorm/DAO Studio environment. FireStorm/DAO Architect Edition includes the source code for the Java code generation templates. The code generation templates are written in Java, which means that Java developers have a very short learning curve before they can start customizing the code generation.
